This tutorial is going to show you how to delete and restore a Work Session record and its child Note and
Data File records, using
the Work Sessions Index Window.
The techniques you see here work in any window that displays hyperlinks that let you delete or
restore
Work Session records.
If you're working in an "Index" window, such as the Work Sessions Index Window, then you need to
start by
first locating and then selecting (by single clicking on the record entry) the Work Session's record
entry, before you click the Delete Selected Work Session hyperlink.
Work Session records can be linked to multiple Note and Data File Link records and they'll be deleted
along with their parent Work Session record, unless you link them to other records first.
If a Work Session record has Note and/or Data File Link records linked to it, then when the deletion
hyperlink is clicked, a dialog box will pop up and ask you to confirm the deletion.
A deleted Work Session record and its child records can be restored by opening the Work Sessions
Index
Window and clicking on the Restore Deleted Sessions hyperlink.
After this hyperlink is clicked on, the window will display a list of all the deleted Work Session
records in the database.
If the list is large, use a keyword search to locate the record you want to undelete.
Enter keywords you think are found in the record you're looking for and then press the Search
hyperlink.
The window will show you a list of matching records.
When you see the record you want undeleted, just
single click on it to select it.
Then click on the Restore Selected Sessions hyperlink to start
restoring the record, and its child records.
A Task Selection dialog box will pop up.
You need to search this dialog box for the Task record that the restored Work Session record, and
its child records will be linked to.
Work Session record's must always be linked to a parent Task
record.
To locate that Task record you can either use the Search panel in the dialog box to find it.
Or, if you know the entire ID number of the Task record, you can enter or paste it into the Use This
Task
ID field, and then click the Enter key on your keyboard.
Or, you can visually search for it.
After you find the Task record, just double click on it to use it as the parent task for the work
session
record and its child records.
After you do that the dialog box will close.
The Work Session record and its child records are restored now, and they are linked to the
selected parent task, all of that task's parent tasks, and the idea record that owns all of them.
