Creating Task And Subtask Records
A Subtask record is the same type of record as a Task record. The only difference is that the Subtask
record
holds the ID number of its parent Task record. as a task record.
This image shows a Subtask Record, with it's parent Task's ID number circled in red.
The easiest way to create a Task/Subtask record is to click on the New Task or New Subtask hyperlink
in any
window that displays it.
Then when you see the new record displayed to you in a new window, give it a proper
description, and you're done.
Some Windows Let You Create Multiple Task Records At Once
Clicking the New Task or New Subtask hyperlink is not the only way to create Task or Subtask records.
The first window you're likely to use to create new Task records is the Ideas Window your
working in right after you've created a new Idea.
You can use the window's Planning field to create multiple task records at once.
To do this just type each task's description into the window, press the enter key, to ensure the
description is in its own paragraph.
Then click the Turn All Content into Task Records hyperlink.
After you click that link, the task records will be created, linked to the idea record, but the
window won't show them unless you click the Display Tasks hyperlink.
Using The Task Window's Planning Field To Create Subtask And Work Session Records
The Task Window has a Planning field, that's similar to the one in the Ideas Window.
Its Planning field however lets you create multiple Subtask or Work Session records at once for the
Task record the window is working with.
At the bottom of the Planning field are 6 hyperlinks that can create Subtask or Work Session records
for
you.
The hyperlinks that are circled in red, need you to select some text in the Planning field that you
want
turned into a record, before you click the hyperlink.
The Turn All Content Into ... hyperlinks don't need you to select anything. They'll just create records
out of each paragraph of content in the Planning field.
This feature is really nice to use, because you'll often find that when you create a new Task record, you
already want to create its first set of Work Session and/or Subtask records, and this feature makes that
very fast and simple to do.
