Every Idea record is capable of being linked to an unlimited number of Task, Subtask, Work Session,
Note, and
Data File Link (linked computer files) records.
The Idea record shown in the image is linked to 95 Tasks, 233 Work Sessions, 54 Notes, and 32
computer files.
The database records linked to an Idea record are referred to as its "child records", and sometimes
as its
"owned" records.
To ask an Idea record to show you a list of a particular type of "child record" linked to it, just
click on
the
appropriate Display... hyperlink, found on the left hand side of the window that's working with the
Idea
record.
If the Idea record owns any of that type of "child record" then it'll display them in a new "Index"
type
window.
That window will let you search the list of displayed records for any particular records you're
looking for.
For example, if you want to see all the computer files linked to the Idea record, then click on the
Display
Data
File Links hyperlink.
An Idea's Data Files Index Window will display and it'll contain all the files linked
to that
Idea
record.
All of the "Index" type windows have a Search Panel that makes it very easy to locate a specific
record entry
using just a simple keyword search.
For example, this Idea has 33 computer files linked to it, and I know that some of them were word
processing
documents capturing information from "Brainstorming" sessions.
To find those records all I needed to do is enter the keyword "brainstorming" into the search panel
and click the Search hyperlink.
Now the window displays only the matching records, 1 in this case.
If you look at this record you'll see that document was created in 2016.
I haven't looked at it since and certainly don't remember what's in it, but all it took to find it
was a single keyword, and a click on a Search hyperlink.
