Creating Idea Records

To create an Idea record just click on the New Idea hyperlink in any window that displays it, such as the Project Summary Window.

A new Idea record will be created and displayed in a new window. When you see it give it a proper description.

Now you can create other records for this record, or link computer files to it.

If you click the New Idea hyperlink, you'll create another Idea record.

You can create new Task, Work Session, and Note records for this new idea by clicking on the appropriate New... hyperlink on the left side of the window.

Or you can link any kind and amount of computer files to the record by clicking the New Data File Link hyperlink, and using the File Navigation, Description, and Import dialog boxes that are going to pop up in order, to select files, describe them, and link to the original files or copies.

Only 3 windows create Idea records and they are the Project Summary Window, Ideas Index Window, and the Ideas Window. The images below show each of these windows and where the New Idea hyperlink is found in them.

How To Create An Idea Record And An Initial Set Of Task Records For It

Typically when an Idea record is created you'll want to create some initial Task records for it as well and this section will show you two very simple ways to do that.

To create an Idea record, click the New Idea hyperlink in any window that displays it.

After the New Idea hyperlink is clicked on, a new Idea record will be created and displayed in a new Ideas Window.

Change the record's description to something that you and others will use to identify the Idea record from others in the database.

Now, you're ready to start creating Task, Work Session, Note, Or Data File records for your new Idea record.

One way to do this is to click on the New Task, New Work Session, New Note, or New Data File hyperlinks in the Ideas Window.

Use the New... hyperlinks to create Task, Work Session, Note, and Data File records for your new Idea record.

Another way to create a set of Task records for the Idea record is to type each new Task record's description into the Planning field and then click on the Turn All Content Into Task Records hyperlink at the bottom of that panel.

Each description will be turned into a new Task record and those records will be linked to your new Idea record.

To display the Idea's set of Task records, you'll have to click on the Display Tasks hyperlink in the Ideas Window.

After you do, you'll see a window similar to the one in the image.

Click the Display Tasks hyperlink to see all of the Idea records linked tasks.
